Theres
no doubt that todays mid priced digital cameras have great value
lenses, especially on some of the Sony and other big name brands.
They are designed specifically however, to do an all round job
including macro shots. Some have zooms that also take them into
the realm of telephoto. BUT with a digital SLR camera you have
the option of changing the lense. Because of this you find that
the lenses are generally better quality and built to do one job
well.
The
SLR lenses are basically 35mm lenses, tried and tested for years
on quality film type cameras. They tend to come in several categories:
wide-angle (less than 40mm) and designed to capture
wide images, great for indoors (stop your living room from looking
like a dolls house) and landscapes. normal (40-60mm),
telephoto (over 70mm), macro
(very closeup), and zoom lenses.
